Joshua Dürksen and BWT Mücke Motorsport celebrate podium finish in the ADAC F4 at Red Bull Ring
• Joshua Dürksen on the podium at the Red Bull Ring
• For the driver of BWT Mücke Motorsport it is the fifth top 3 result of the year
• Teammanager Roland Rehfeld: "All in all we had a lot of fun on the Red Bull Ring this weekend. Joshua is always a front runner, but his mistakes have set him back. He draws a lot of motivation from such setbacks."
In wintry weather conditions last weekend was the fifth championship weekend for Joshua and his BWT Mücke Motorsport Team in ADAC Formula 4.
Joshua made a brilliant start to the race weekend on the Formula 1 race track. After the three-week break since the event on the Nürburgring, the 16-year-old set an impressive best time with first place in the free practice on Friday morning. In the qualifying session in the afternoon, he secured fifth place on the grid for the first race of the three races, which took place on Saturday morning.
During race preparation, the two-time winner of the season demonstrated an excellent understanding of his vehicle. Despite single-digit temperatures, he managed to heat up the tires in the two warm-up laps to give him the perfect grip. He thus created the ideal conditions to push forward once again with a rocket-like start. Dürksen overtook two competitors in the first few meters. He maintained third place for most of the race before the race organizers punished him for exceeding the track limits. Dürksen reached the finish line in ninth place.
On Sunday morning Joshua started even better into the race. On the short way to the first corner he overtook three drivers with his determined driving style. This put him in fourth position. In a demanding duel against the car in front of him, he fought his way to third place, which he did not give up until the end of the 30-minute race. It was Joshua's fifth podium finish this season. In the afternoon race, he fought for a long time for points before he received another penalty that threw him back to twelfth place.
In just under two weeks, the sixth of seven season stations of the "ADAC High Speed School" is on the agenda. The series returns to the DEKRA Lausitzring from October 30 to November 1, where the season opener was held on the first weekend in August.
Roland Rehfeld (Teammanager):
"I am happy about the development of our two rookies Erick Zuniga and Josef Knopp. Josef benefits from the cooperation with Joshua Dürksen. Both share an engineer. Joshua has also shown strong performances. He set an exclamation mark with the best time in training after the long break. For me he is the best starter in the field, which he proved once again at the Red Bull Ring. Joshua is always a frontrunner, but mistakes have set him back. He draws a lot of motivation from such setbacks. He has a 'now more than ever' mentality. All in all, the weekend at the Red Bull Ring was a lot of fun. We will use the time until the next race to test with all three drivers at Oschersleben."
